KMFos was originally started as "kmichele" Custom Gemstone Jewelry in 2006.  After a trademark opposition filing by a well-known brand, Kari M. Foster decided to rename the Company KMFos, using her initials to relaunch the brand. 

KMFos is the brand that makes a statement without saying a word.  The jewelry and craftsmanship speaks for itself.  The marketing is never a hard sell.  We do not believe in that.  When you see the jewelry, you either fall in love or you don't.  It's an easy purchase that will last for years and years.  Classic - Modern - Timeless - Unique are all words to describe the quality of the brand.

Kari spent years working in Private Wealth Management where the typical attire for women was either a black suit, a navy suit, a grey suit, etc.  Due to the nature of the industry, there were some limitations on how women showed their personality in everyday dress.  So, this led Kari to provide unique, hand-crafted jewelry as a way demonstrate her own personality, in addition to, perfectly compliment her professional or casual attire.  Majoring in International Business and Minoring in French, Kari always thought she would be a fashion designer.  Working in banking in NYC did not allow her the time to attend FIDM at night, as she thought when she moved to NYC, after completing her Bachelors degree.  While she pursued her banking career, she wanted to do something with fashion.  Clothing was a bit bulky, so jewelry seemed like a perfect alternative to pickup as a hobby.  The hobby turned into a business venture.
